As we look to Memorial Day and give thanks and thought to all those who protect our freedom, and may have given their life for us, I canít help but to think about my husbandís witticism. My husband served in the Marines, and then served in law enforcement for 28 years. In his opinion, the current lack of respect for one another, for military, law enforcement, government and basically anyone in a position of authority, is directly related to the decrease in wearing a belt!

You see, back in older generations, men and boys wore shirts pressed, tucked in and had a respect for the way they looked. Women wore clean pressed clothing and accessories. Military and Law enforcement personnel were polished and shined. Government officials wore suits and ties and EVERYOE wore belts. First ladies dressed like FIRST LADIES! Even McDonalds employees wore uniforms. Never would you have thought people would go out with their pants down past their behind, or worse,  go out in public in their pajamas! No belts to be found!

So next time you see a service man or woman, or even law enforcement personnel,  thank them for wearing a belt and for serving and protecting us! Happy Memorial Day and  thank you to all those who have served our country!
