YOU’RE IN CONTROL, NOW WHAT?

Turn over has occurred, the owner board is in place and all the associations records have been turned over. Now what?

A transition board may be overwhelmed at the magnitude of the task they have generously volunteered for. The first step is to take a deep breath and remember Rome wasn’t built in a day! The next step should be to register for a board certification seminar. The FREE seminars are offered by Condo Craze. For a list of upcoming events, please visit www.condocrazeandhoas.com

You will want to hold a meeting to discuss what the goals and objectives of this board will be over the next year. It is suggested that the board establish regular meeting dates, such as the 3rd Tuesday of every month. This enables everyone to preplan their schedules. It is important to remember, as a transition board, you are establishing the protocol for all future boards!

Next, you will want to ensure you are fully up to date on the community such as litigation, construction defects, contract expirations and financial status.

Closing advice is to fully understand the property, it’s needs and the Declaration.  Consider not organizing committees for the first 6 months, as this will allow you to focus on the items above.
