GIVE A LITTLE AND YOU WILL GET A LOT

As CEO of my firm, I attend a lot of board meetings. It seems that no matter what state I’m in there are communities where Homeowners are rude and abusive to board members and site staff. Board Members are rude and abusive to each other, the Homeowners and the staff. Before long, the staff either reciprocates in the same manner or they resign due to frustration.

There doesn’t seem to be respect or kindness, let alone caring customer service, found in many places these days. Kindness starts at home. In 2018, as a company, we have worked diligently to build community harmony throughout our portfolios. You don’t have to have a lot of money to engage a community. In the 4th Quarter of 2017, our staff planned and worked with owners to collect empty shoe boxes, filling them with donations such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes/toothpaste, thermal gloves, thermal socks and all sorts of hygiene needs along with first aid items, all donated by our Homeowners. The shoe boxes were filled, decorated and given out to homeless individuals throughout our local communities.

Homeowners volunteered to cookout for the homeless with our staff’s assistance. They also assisted in filling, decorating and distributing the boxes. I tell you this, not to boast about the company, but to point out anything can bring about a stronger sense of community. We have already received inquiries as to what our project for this year will be!

Wouldn’t it be nice if we all started a trend of smiling at one another and thanking each other? Or how about inviting your neighbor to a BYOW (Bring your own wine) happy hour at your pool or club room? How about to a book club, walking club or bridge club? It only takes one person to start something and get so much in return.
