IT’S A MATTER OF UPBRINGING

Eric asked why some boards place the pledge of allegiance on the agenda and open every board meeting with this protocol. I’d like to answer that for you! Plain and simple, it is a matter of upbringing! Anyone under the age of 35 was taught to respect their elders, say their prayers, and have respect for others (especially military and first responders) and to take pride in our country, our flag and those who died for our freedom.

Starting with Generation X, we began to see less conformity, more push the envelope towards bending rules and regulations, more parents working, resulting in more children staying home unsupervised and uninspired. From there we moved to the Y Generation, which consists of spoiled, entitled, undisciplined millennials who only concern themselves with, me, myself and I!

I recently read a post on Facebook where a self-proclaimed millennial stated, “I don’t respect the flag, the country, the President, law enforcement or the military. No one has died for me!

What do you think?? Am I wrong?
