YES, it is that time of year again! Annual elections to fill open Board seats. What I find most interesting about this time of year is that there is so much talk about elections fraud, incorrect ballots, fake proxies and all these individuals who want to stay on the Board and all those who want to overthrow the Board and assume power!


No one ever talks about the association who have had the same board members for an extended period of time, and they would love to be replaced, but no one will volunteer to run. The level of apathy among Homeowners and Condo owners run rampant. But no one seems all that concerned. Do you think the lack of involvement by the majority of the owners allows for some of the inappropriate Board actions to take place? “Go ahead and do it, no one is watching”. Do you think not having a supply of ready, willing and able candidates also opens the door for similar inappropriate actions when the board never turns over?


Here is a thought. What if there was a requirement that every owner had to serve 2 years as a Board Member? Could this make a difference?
