Plastic Surgery

Americans are obsessed with their appearance. Each year we spend billions to be tucked, sucked, tightened, brightened, whitened, cut, colored and tanned. WHEW! Makes me tired just talking about it.

I know you must be thinking WHAT does this silliness have to do with our topic this week, "Should We Fund Reserves or Waive Them?"

Well, there really is a good comparison here. Just as our body begins to show wear and tear and our appearance ages, so do our communities. Roofs begin to leak, chimney caps fade, siding becomes worn and moldy, trees become overgrown, stucco becomes faded, elevators break, carpeting becomes outdated and on and on. ………………

Typically, our homes are our most valuable single investment. So why, would we not want to take a proactive approach in maintaining its physical integrity and enhance our investment values???

Adequately funding reserves is without a doubt the best way to protect your long term investment and ensure you don’t get hit with a large special assessment down the road.

By voting to wave reserves you are simply dealing with the devil and eventually you will have to pay.
