YOUR RIGHTS OFFEND ME!

Oh my gosh! This time of the year is the absolute worst for Boards and CAM’s. Not only are you overworked and overstressed preparing next year’s budget, planning annual meetings, sending out the numerous notices and mail outs for elections but now we have to deal with the complaints of what holiday decorations should or should not be displayed .

Today’s society is so marked by being “politically correct” that no matter what you choose to display it is going to offend someone. These debates have become far too political and often seem to be used to divide people rather than bring them together. Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa and all of the other names used were meant to celebrate and promote love, kindness and thanksgiving for all people. No matter the race, color, religion or sexual preference. So maybe your neighbor has a nativity display or a menorah displayed, you must understand it has NOTHING TO DO with offending you. They are simply being true to themselves and their beliefs. So long as they’re not beating down your door, breaking the law and verbally assaulting you with their beliefs, why should you be offended?
