WHAT’S IN A NAME?

After reading Eric’s blog on Monday, it made me consider all of the information that a LCAM has exposure to and the amount of trust you put in your LCAM to ensure the utmost cave in protecting this information from public view. But what if you have an owner who is running for the Board under an assumed name?  This recently was the case when a very famous rock star, now in his late sixties, wished to serve on his Association Board, but did not wish to use his real name. Does the Board and the Homeowners have the right to know his true identity? What if you have a unit owner who is running for a seat on the Board but the deed for his unit is under a different name than the one he goes by? Can the LCAM or the Board demand documentation proving he is the true owner? Do unit owners have the right to see this documentation? The secure safekeeping of personal information is paramount in today’s technology advanced society. With a simple click of a button you can find almost anyone, anywhere. Does your Association or LCAM take extraordinary measures to protect your owners? If so, share your ideas with us.
