EMAILS DON’T EQUAL MEETINGS

Today email is a form of communication that cannot be avoided and it is very prolific in all aspects of life, even in community association governance and operations.

 

The topic of what can be done by email and who owns the emails is topic that regularly arises in part because some board members are choosing to avoid meetings. The best way to head off major issues are to:

  1. Set a committed regular board and committee meeting schedule that is published on the association website

  2. Attend these meetings as scheduled

  3. Record compliant meeting minutes and post them to the association website in a timely basis

Now most people are very comfortable with Zoom or other video conference services that have proven to be very accessible and simple to facilitate most meetings. Make use of these tools and also having a very functional website that provides all the information a unit owner will need.
