TAKE YOUR TIME…

It feels great to know that we will soon be getting back to a somewhat normal life.  However, as we've mentioned over the past few weeks, we need to ensure that we are taking precautionary measures before opening.

The guidelines for reopening can vary from county to county and city to city; thus, you must go over each one to properly understand where your association stands.  Further, I urge all board members to consult with your attorney as to what steps will be taken to reopen the common areas.

As a Board, you do have the right to delay the opening of certain common areas based on the guidelines provided in your specific order. For instance, we have several properties that have decided to keep their pool closed since they can't meet the guidelines defined in the cities' order.  Most don't have the staff at hand to maintain the guidelines and procedures.  If your association finds itself in this situation, I suggest you take the time to communicate those challenges with your residents. In most cases, the residents will be understanding.

I'd be interested to hear from our readers... what steps are you taking to reopen your common area'(s)?
