Owning a peace of real estate within an Association can be viewed as a luxury. In some cases, one monthly fee includes a verity of amenities. Gym's, pool's, playroom's, and spa's are some examples. With everything going on in the world, from pandemic, to riots, and now possible Hurricanes, how can we determine if the Board Members are making the correct decisions. What would you do? When limiting access to what one may consider essential to them, many neglect to understand why the decisions are being made in the first place. This can be attributed to lack of participation. As different Counties are now opening, the question remains, should your Association Board do the same? The reality is that it may be more complex than one may think. As it stands, there are several requirements that may prohibit your community from reopen such amenities. How does the Board comply with the proposed requirements within a budget not designed for what is being mandated?

Board Members are running around, taking care of their families, their businesses while volunteering to be your representative. In times like this, coming together and understanding the complexity of an issue can bring neighbors together making such decisions and processes much easier. Human nature is to send an email, or make a call, or even attend a meeting to argue about something that you may not agree with. But have you ever thought, that instead of arguing about an issue you feel strongly about, taking a step back and instead guiding the board with your findings, helping them with their decision process? Community is simply the definition of coming together, what a perfect time to do so. When you ask your Board why they haven't reopen, have you asked yourself that question?
