LET’S STAY POSITIVE…

I’m sure most of you would agree that we are thankful that Eric is ok and doing much better… it could have been worst.   We all forgot myself included, how precious life is, and how important it is to appreciate each day we have on this planet.  We let little issues become bigger then they are, and it is not worth it. Without our health, we are nothing.

While our industry is known to be tough as nails and non-appreciative, it cultivates a stressful environment that affects an individuals health.  I’m a strong believer of positive reinforcement rather than negative reinforcement.  Many times I’ve seen board members rip at other board members, managers, or maintenance personnel for simple things?  Nothing positive ever comes out of those situations.  They create a negative environment that affects everyone in the office and out of the office. If this is your approach, it doesn’t have to be this way… It is much simpler and healthier to tell someone they’ve done something wrong in a calm and relaxed way.   You will get more out of it that way. You can then coach them by explaining how you would like things to change and outline the expectation that you have for them.  With clear cut and agreed upon expectaitons, both parties know what they are responsible and what the potential outcome will be if those expectations are not met. Its much easier and healthier to coach someone up or out, and you don’t need risk your well being and those around you by adding stressful pressures that are unnecessary.  As the saying goes, “you’ll get more with sugar than with salt.”
