Freedom of Choice

Happy Independence Day! Let us remember that because of our Independence, we as Americans have the freedom to make our own choices.

  

We have the freedom to choose our religion, our lifestyle and yes… we even have the freedom to choose where we live.

  

If we choose to own a home in a community that has an Association, then we have made a conscious decision to abide by the rules and regulations of that Association. We have made a fiduciary commitment to pay our fees in a timely manner, to live in harmony with our neighbors and in the event the Association has a No Pet Policy, then we have also agreed not to own a pet.

 

According to the National Humane Society website, there are 78.2 million pets in American homes. 39% of homes have one  (1) dog and 28% have two (2) or more.

  

We love our dogs. However, for the millions of Americans who are not pet lovers and have chosen to live in a pet free community, we question any court that would allow one homeowner to adversely impact the lifestyle of all homeowners by allowing one individual to be an exception.

  

As we move through life, circumstances change, but as members of a community, we must realize that the rules apply to everyone. It is unfair to the masses for us to expect everyone to change for us. In order for an Association to operate successfully everyone should expect that all rules, regulations and bylaws apply to everyone without exception.
