SAD BUT TRUE

Eric’s blog is sad but true. One would think that in America if we buy something it is ours and no one can take it from us. Clearly that is not the case in Florida!!!

 

As one blogger/reader responded, “Vote” and that is exactly what has to happen to make any significant changes to the Florida statute.

  

As Homeowners and Condo owners, you have to get involved. Every vote counts. If the Legislators we have in office are not protecting you and your rights, it is time to get rid of them by voting someone else into office. Every Association should consider starting a “Legislative Committee” charging this committee with staying abreast of issues affecting HOA’s and COA’s, getting the information to the unit owners and encouraging them to get involved! As I’ve said many times, “Together, we can make a difference”.

 

But remember, you need to check your Association documents to ensure it contains the language of “As amended from time to time”. If it does not, there is your starting place. The Board should begin the process of amending your documents to include this language so that you benefit from all changes in the statute!
