AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION

The Trayvon Martin shooting was a horrible tragedy. No parent should ever have to bury his or her child, especially at such a young age and for doing nothing more than walking HIS neighborhood.

No one was present during this event and only Trayvon and George Zimmerman truly know what motivated this action.

However, just as Association’s documents define the authority and actions, which may be taken by the Board of Directors. The Board MUST clearly define the authority and actions that are permitted by committees or groups of homeowners. Many of our Associations, along with Management, develop detailed guidelines outlining acceptable behavior, course of action along with proper protocol. Had these been in place, would they have prevented this horrific event? We will never know the answer. But even the slightest possibility of preventing future similar situations is well worth the effort.

It is Human nature, to learn from our mistakes, so lets all take this opportunity to learn and to grow, to look for the good in each other and create peace and not to continue to promote strife and social up rise. Harmony is a tribute to Trayvon’s memory.
