MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY

There has to be a happy medium between the Board Members and the Homeowners who simply don’t care and don’t get involved, and those who firmly believe an Association is a dictatorship that the Board answers to NO one and can do what they like, when they like and if you don’t like it, Tough!!

 

This type of Board behavior seems to be more prevalent in HOA’s as opposed to COA’s, although it can be found in both. I personally believe that the required Board Members education should be expanded from a certification class to also include a basic fundamental of reading financial statements and the basics of managing a real estate asset. Both of these could easily be reviewed in 4 hour classes and would likely resolve many of the issues Boards are faced with.
