I
find it hard to believe, that in the year 2013, an Association
can limit to whom a Homeowner may sell their unit to!!!
If
there is a "Meeting of the Minds" between a buyer and
a seller, why should a Board or an Association have the right to
be involved in the transaction? I understand that when a
Homeowner purchases a home in an Association they agree to abide
by the Bylaws set forth in the covenants. But, come on,
shouldn't someone realize that some of these regulations are
considered outdated and ridiculous.
Don't
get me wrong, I'm all for Co-ops having the ability to vote in
owners.But regular
condo or HOA Associations should not have the ability to have
any input on who has the right to purchase a home in their
community. Having this ability without being required to provide
reasons is simply ludicrous. This leaves the door open for all
sorts of misuse of power by Board Members. Ughhhh!!!
Yes,
Associations and their Boards should have the right of first
refusal, and yes they should have the power to dictate and
approve "Renters". But, if I wish to sell my home to
the highest bidder, the Association or Board should NOT be
allowed to make a decision that could affect my sale, not even
if they provide me with their reason for making such a decision.
