LEGISLATIVE SESSION UPDATE

I’ve said in the last two weeks what I think about ESA
(Emotional Support Animals). So this week I am blogging about an
issue dear to my heart: Legislative Reforms:
The 2021 Legislative Session goes into its final week. Next
Friday is SINE DIE – if all goes well and the
budget is approved in a timely manner.
The Bill that is most likely the most hotly debated one is
SB 90 (Companion Bill HB 7041) – named
ELECTION ADMINISTATION.
So far forty-five (45) amendments to the bill have been filed –
to my knowledge a record number for any bill on the calendar
this year. The bill passed all Senate committees on party line
and that will most likely continue on the floor of each chamber.
While one party says that the provisions of the bill are aiming
at stopping any kind of election fraud, the other party clamors
that it will suppress voter participation. But don’t we all want
fair elections, not the disaster we saw last year in November?
My prediction: The bill will be voted upon favorably on the
floors of both chambers and will be signed into law by Governor
Ron DeSantis, effective July 1, 2021.
An overview over our Priority Bills (April 22, 2021):
SB 630 (latest version): Voted favorably on the Senate
floor and is in Messages.
SB 56 (Latest Version): Voted favorably on the Senate
floor and is in Messages.
SB 996: Passed all
committees; will go to Senate floor
HB 649 (latest version): Voted favorably on the House
floor and is in the Senate
HB 615: Added to Second Reading Calendar, no progress.
HB 867: Added to Second Reading Calendar, no progress
SB 872: Stalled in Rules Committee.
HB 665
(latest version):
Voted favorably on the House floor and was received in Senate,
But a lot can be happening in the last week of this year’s
legislative session. Next weekend we will know more!

for his own purposes. End of retirement!

We think that only owners can really represent owners, since all
service providers surely have a different interest! We are
trying to create owner-friendly laws, but the best laws are
useless without enforcement. And enforcement is totally lacking
