LITTLE CHANGES

Well, the Florida legislature made it this year real easy for
me. I only have to make a few little changes to the Florida
statutes on our website to take care of the changes to community
association law.
The Florida Legislature clearly failed this year – again -- to
protect the owners of property in community associations against
abuses and scams – and allowed dictatorships in many
associations to continue.
This year was all
about the Florida Fire Prevention Code -- for the
umpteen times. You can read the exact wording of the changes on
our CCFJ website in my Op-Ed:
Compliance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code:
HB 7103EG
There is really not
much more to say than: IT’S GETTING BORING!
Let’s see if
Governor Ron DeSantis will sign this bill. Remember: Governor
Rick Scott Vetoed a similar bill pointing out that the lives of
folks living in Hi-Rises are at stake!

associations. He moved to
Florida
in 1995 - hoping to retire. He moved into a HOA, where the
developer cheated the homeowners and used the association dues
for his own purposes. End of retirement!
CCFJ was born in the year 2000, when some owners met in
Tallahassee
- finding out that power is only in numbers. Bergemann was a
member of Governor Jeb Bush's HOA Task force in 2003/2004.
The organization has two websites to inform interested
Florida
homeowners and condo owners:
News Website: http://www.ccfj.net/.
Educational Website: http://www.ccfjfoundation.net/.
We think that only owners can really represent owners, since all
service providers surely have a different interest! We are
trying to create owner-friendly laws, but the best laws are
useless without enforcement. And enforcement is totally lacking
in
Florida
!
