WHY DO PEOPLE WANT TO MOVE INTO A
NO-PET COMMUNITY OWNING A PET?

I always ask myself: Why
do people move into a no-pet community if they have or want a
pet? Let’s make no mistake: I like pets and I would never even
consider the idea of moving into a no-pet community. It just
makes no sense to me.
I hear over and over again
about people wanting to buy into a no-pet – or
weight-limited-pet – community, even adding doctor’s papers to
their application?
Aren’t they aware that many of the people living in these
so-called no-pet communities are not friendly towards pets,
because they moved there for a purpose?
Isn’t moving into a no-pet
community with a pet – emotional support animal or not – asking
for controversy? Don’t these folks consider that the folks who
moved into no-pet communities for a reason – like allergies –
will not appreciate their no-pet rules to be broken and will
fight them all the way?
A wide majority of
communities in Florida don’t have any no-pet or limited weight
pet rules – meaning there are many communities that allow dogs
and cats – and all other kinds of animals – without annoying
your future neighbors.
Honestly: I wouldn’t move
anywhere where I’m not wanted in the first place!
Doesn’t it mean you are starting a fight with
your future neighbors before you even move in?

Florida
in 1995 - hoping to retire. He moved into a HOA, where the
developer cheated the homeowners and used the association dues
for his own purposes. End of retirement!

We think that only owners can really represent owners, since all
service providers surely have a different interest! We are
trying to create owner-friendly laws, but the best laws are
useless without enforcement. And enforcement is totally lacking
