PROMISES, PROMISES?

In this country it doesn’t really matter if somebody makes you
any verbal promises sealed by a hand-shake, signs documents
promising to do certain things or even gives you a contract with
five copies, signed and even sealed by a notary public.
It sure doesn’t protect you from facing a lawsuit, if the other
side doesn’t like the promises made any longer – or just changes
its mind.
In this country where – according to statistics the only one in
the world – we have more attorneys than medical doctors, there
will always be an attorney willing to challenge any promises,
made verbal or in writing.
When I grew up, a hand-shake was much better than a contract –
and people felt obligated to honor this hand-shake.
Nowadays not even a signed and sealed contract may hold up in
court.
No matter if promises were made verbal or in writing, one can
only pray that the other side is willing to keep his/her
promise.
In former times the saying went: “A Man Is Only As Good As
His Word!”
I still believe that this saying is true. But how many people
still remember that saying?

associations. He moved to
Florida
in 1995 - hoping to retire. He moved into a HOA, where the
developer cheated the homeowners and used the association dues
for his own purposes. End of retirement!
CCFJ was born in the year 2000, when some owners met in
Tallahassee
- finding out that power is only in numbers. Bergemann was a
member of Governor Jeb Bush's HOA Task force in 2003/2004.
The organization has two websites to inform interested
Florida
homeowners and condo owners:
News Website: http://www.ccfj.net/.
Educational Website: http://www.ccfjfoundation.net/.
We think that only owners can really represent owners, since all
service providers surely have a different interest! We are
trying to create owner-friendly laws, but the best laws are
useless without enforcement. And enforcement is totally lacking
in
Florida
