TALKING ELECTION NIGHT?

In his blog posted on Monday, Eric said that he is not talking politics.

WELL, I DO!

If we want to see owner-friendly bills enacted we surely need to look at politics. And here we go:

This week I found out that election nights can be a lot more interesting than even a real good movie – especially if the results are great! And that was definitely the case this week Tuesday/Wednesday.

And it was not only because Donald Trump won and will be the 47th President of the USA, but because the results here in Florida were absolutely great – in my opinion.

We read so much in the local media about condo owners and homeowners were absolutely mad about the huge increase in property insurance and the fact that legislators created laws that finally show the real cost of living in Florida’s condominiums.

The media tried to blame Senator Rick Scott for the high insurance premiums and urged voters to vote for the communist opponent: Scott won his re-election handily.

The media tried as well to blame Representative Vicki Lopez (R-Miami) for the creation and enacting of the Condo Safety Bill (HB 1021), a bill that will force some people to sell their home. She won her re-election easily.

And Miami-Dade got a new sheriff – very important for all home owners and condo owners in this county. Rosie Cordero-Stutz vowed to crack down on Community Association Corruption.

I am confident that there will be positive changes made during the 2025 legislative session – after we have all the necessary data to help fixing problems caused by the bills that were enacted in the last two years.

Jan Bergemann is president of Cyber Citizens For Justice, Florida 's largest state-wide property owners' advocacy group. CCFJ works on legislation to help owners living in community associations.

He moved to Florida in 1995 - hoping to retire. He moved into a HOA, where the developer cheated the homeowners and used the association dues for his own purposes. End of retirement!

CCFJ was born in the year 2000, when some owners met in Tallahassee - finding out that power is only in numbers. Bergemann was a member of Governor Jeb Bush's HOA Task force in 2003/2004.

The organization has two websites to inform interested Florida homeowners and condo owners:

News Website:

Educational Website: http://www.ccfjfoundation.net/.

We think that only owners can really represent owners, since all service providers surely have a different interest! We are trying to create owner-friendly laws, but the best laws are useless without enforcement. And enforcement is totally lacking in Florida !
