RELIGION IN ASSOCIATIONS: A BREEDING GROUND FOR LAWSUITS!

If you know your history you know that religion caused more wars than anything else. It’s not quite as bad in community associations, but we have – over the years – seen quite a lot of media reports about lawsuits caused by some sort of religious disputes.

From using the clubhouse for religious services to placing the statue of the Virgin Mary in the front-yard, Florida’s judges had to deal with all sorts of fights between neighbors over religious beliefs.

And with Christmas getting close, the fights over Christmas decorations are increasing. In my opinion Christmas is nowadays not just a Christian holiday anymore. About all US citizens celebrate some sort of Christmas – with Santa Claus being the most important part of the holidays. Kids just love Santa – no matter what Religion. Our society has made Christmas the biggest sales-holiday of the year, often overshadowing the religious background of this holiday.

But let’s not forget: The original message of Christmas is: PEACE ON EARTH – and that should be the most important part of the message we should all try to follow!

Forget the fights over beliefs and religion – and let’s be nice and neighborly with each other.

PEACE IN OUR COMMUNITIES!

associations. He moved to Florida in 1995 - hoping to retire. He moved into a HOA, where the developer cheated the homeowners and used the association dues for his own purposes. End of retirement!

CCFJ was born in the year 2000, when some owners met in Tallahassee - finding out that power is only in numbers. Bergemann was a member of Governor Jeb Bush's HOA Task force in 2003/2004.

The organization has two websites to inform interested Florida homeowners and condo owners:

We think that only owners can really represent owners, since all service providers surely have a different interest! We are trying to create owner-friendly laws, but the best laws are useless without enforcement. And enforcement is totally lacking in Florida !
