WHALE DONE!

When it comes to managing a community
association, developing a strong and positive culture is essential
for success. There's an excellent book that I have my team members
read, and I also recommend my clients (board members) read it as
well. The book's name is Whale Done! by Ken Blanchard; it is an
excellent book that provides practical and effective strategies to
help leaders (board members) create a thriving culture in their
community.
The Whale Done! approach encourages board members
to focus on the positives and recognize success rather than dwelling
on negative behavior and errors. This approach helps create a sense
of motivation, self-esteem, and achievement among association staff
and members. Board members can use this approach to foster healthy
relationships between onsite staff and its members to build trust
and develop a culture of collaboration and cooperation.
Whale Done! also emphasizes the importance of
positive reinforcement. Board members can use positive words,
praise, and rewards to recognize individuals and teams that have
achieved their goals or gone the extra mile. This approach helps
create a culture of appreciation and recognition, which encourages
members to strive to do their best and helps reduce negative
behaviors. Further, this approach encourages to focus on
problem-solving rather than dwelling on problems.
Overall, the approach can be an invaluable tool
for board members. Board members can create a culture of success and
collaboration by focusing on the positives, providing positive
reinforcement, and encouraging problem-solving. This approach
motivates onsite staff and members, reduces negative behaviors, and
fosters a spirit of community and belonging.
