LET US TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE GROWTH…

As a
South Florida resident for the past nineteen years, I’ve seen the
significant changes our city and state continue to go through. The
influx of so many residents may seem overwhelming to some, and to
others, it’s a means for more opportunities.
With more
buildings/homes being developed, properties being sold at higher
values, and more tourist visiting Florida, it creates a
significantly larger pool of money that each county/city receives
via property, sales and hotel taxes. In my opinion, how these
monies are being spent is what the real concern is. If we don’t want
“paradise” to be lost, we need to invest in our state’s future.
How? Well, nothing less than our school system. Research shows
that when more money is spent on education, especially for students
from low-income families, achievement and graduation rates improve,
as do life outcomes such as employment, and wages.
